Grow Your Club grants

A group of people in a circle, putting their hands together

The Grow Your Club programme helps sports and physical activity clubs in Wakefield District to welcome more junior members.

Your club must be officially linked to a National Governing Body (NGB) that’s recognised by Sport England.

Successful clubs will get a £500 grant to run introductory sessions for new junior participants.

What the money can be used for

The money can be used for:

  • a coaching course for a new volunteer
  • buying new equipment
  • hiring a venue for the sessions

We’re especially looking to support

  • smaller clubs with room to grow
  • clubs and participants from lower-income areas
  • girls and women’s teams
  • ethnic minority participants and teams
  • disabled participants and inclusive teams

Please note

Sessions must be aimed at new young participants who will eventually join your club’s youngest age group. For example, in football, the youngest team is usually Under 7s, so sessions should be for 5 to 6-year-olds.

Sessions must run for at least 3 months.

Clubs should charge a small fee to help cover costs and keep the sessions going long-term

We want clubs to keep running these sessions regularly, so they’re always bringing in new young members year after year.
